Summer emerges slowly but surely during the long days of June. Summer’s infancy might be like any new-born, full of delight and surprise, the new grass and leaves, giving a very different feel to any early heat wave that comes along. Rather than the stale, stifling heat of July or August, hot weather now is greeted with affection due an old dear friend. The combination of the strongest sunshine and the last of spring’s chill has been know to generate billowing clouds, soaring to dizzying heights of 7 miles or more, their shadows growing into the threat of a sudden afternoon squall of wind, rain, and thunder.
