Our signature Feast with the Beasts marks the beginning of summer — it’s a chance to get together with friends and neighbors to sample fresh flavors from talented local kitchens in one of Vermont’s true treasures. We can’t hold a party this year, instead you’re invited to celebrate the wonders of our natural world in the spirit of Franklin and Frances Fairbanks.

Before the Fairbanks Museum was founded in 1891, Franklin and Frances Fairbanks opened their home and extended a warm welcome to guests. Visitors were invited to view the “cabinet of curiosities” of some 450 mounted animals and artifacts collected by Franklin Fairbanks, his family, business partners, and friends. Their generous vision continues to bring us together, even while we’re apart.

While we prepare the galleries and campus for your safe return, you’re invited to celebrate the enduring vision of Franklin and Frances Fairbanks from the comfort of your home with these images from Underclyffe, their St. Johnsbury estate.

Please support the ongoing work of this museum to keep the spirit of wonder and curiosity strong.

We are deeply grateful for every contribution.
