In keeping with Franklin Fairbanks' vision, the Fairbanks Museum remains dedicated to instruction and interpretation in the sciences and humanities, while preserving and enhancing its splendid Victorian building and exceptional collections. Annual giving, planned gifts, and corporate support are a major component in sustaining this valuable mission.

Annual Giving

Annual Giving helps to underwrite the Museum's core programs and services. It is vitally important to ensure that the Museum continues to:

Put science in the hands of the next generation. An Annual Fund gift helps introduce children to biology, environmental conservation and stewardship, astronomy, geology, and more.

Care for our exquisite collections. We have the largest natural science collections in northern New England. Help us take care of them for future generations to enjoy.

Preserve this splendid historic building. Help us ensure its longevity.

Continue to provide vital information about the Northeast Kingdom's cultural heritage. Your gift furthers understanding and appreciation of the traditions, crafts, and regional history of this special corner of Vermont.

Ensure outstanding visitor services. Being a welcoming, accessible, user-friendly Museum advances our mission to education and enlighten. Help make these services possible.

Present exhibits and programs. Throughout the year we present programs and events in the Museum, the planetarium, and through the media on subjects ranging from the Northern Forest to fossils. And, we're striving to update all our exhibits.

Help this work continue. All levels of Annual Giving support are welcome. To receive an Annual Fund mailing or to make a gift, please email Bethany Lyn Latham in the Development Office, or call 802-748-2372.

Planned Giving

There are a number of ways in which a donor can leave a legacy that will help ensure the Museum's continued vitality for years to come. And, planned gifts may well have significant tax advantages for the donor and his or her heirs. The Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium is a 501 (c) (3) educational organization. Contributions are deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law. Donors should consult their tax advisors or estate planners about how best to accomplish their goals.

Options currently available to donors through the Museum's Development Office include bequests (gifts by will made at the time of the donor's death) as well as life income gifts such as charitable remainder annuity trusts which can entitle the donor to an income tax deduction as well as providing the donor with a fixed annual income.

How are planned gifts used? Bequests or other kinds of planned gifts can be used by the Museum toward its endowment, as unrestricted support, or as part of a fund for a specific project. To ensure that the Museum can honor your wishes, the donor is encouraged to consult with the Museum about the purpose of the gift before you have named the Museum as a beneficiary.

If you are interested in finding out more about the Museum's Planned Giving program, please contact the Museum's Development Officer, Bethany Lyn Latham. All information will be treated with complete confidentiality.

Corporate Support

The Museum welcomes partnerships with members of the business community. Corporate support underwrites specific events, such as our annual Fairbanks Fall Festival Weekend, or specific programs, such as exhibits, scholarships, new equipment, and more.

The Museum is particularly sensitive to maximizing exposure for businesses interested in receiving visibility for their gifts. Sponsorship credit is available through press releases, brochures, flyers, posters, donor lists and other printed materials or through radio advertising.
