Peter Martin has his forestry degree from University of Maine and has taught middle school science. Since retiring, he currently works with boy scouts for merit badges in topics such as gold panning.
His presentation includes a history of sugaring in our region, and demonstartions of an array of different buckets and spouts and how they have evolved over time. He will also talk about current technology and mass production,UVM sugar studies and tubing practices.
He brings unique observations, including thirty years of personal records. The undercurrent of the talk will be observing nature and showing climate change. He believes that observation is one of the important skills you can have.
Intended Audience: Anyone with an interest in sugaring, its history and modern techniques.
