Info: The Lyman Spitzer, Jr. Planetarium at the Fairbanks Museum just opened! Be among the first to experience this new space exploration with your personal guide. This month, we'll encounter the Transit of Venus, one of the rarest astronomical phenomena. This year on June 5th, the planet Venus will pass directly in front of the Sun, a rare event that will not happen again until 2117. Our planetarium program will highlight why this happens to rarely, the fascinating roles that past transits of Venus have played in science and history, and how you can safely witness the transit yourself.
Location: Lyman Spitzer, Jr. Planetarium at the Fairbanks Museum.
Intended Audience: The Museum's planetarium is a perfect family experience. We do no recommend this program for children under 5 because it requires sitting in a dark room for 50 minutes.
Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to reserve seats, as tickets are required.
